Agile Content acquires Fon to further strengthen its TV service offering

Fon’s technology boosts B2B2C TV service strategy, improving in-home video delivery
management and end-users’ viewing experiences across multiple screens.

Agile Content, a leading provider of digital TV and video delivery solutions, has announced the acquisition of leading global WiFi solutions provider, Fon technology (Fon). This marks a further step in Agile Content’s strategy of consolidating the video technology space. The acquisition of Fon comes at a significant period of growth for Agile Content. In addition to technology and expertise investment, it achieved more than 70% organic growth over the last year. Fon’s software-based solutions and its team of experts empower a global customer base of Tier 1 operators in the telecommunications industry to deliver secure, flexible and scalable carrier-grade WiFi and video services to households.

With over 80% of the traffic generated on Fon’s WiFi network globally related to video, its technology plays a significant role in how video is experienced on multiple screens in today’s homes. By adding Fon’s industry-renowned technology, Agile Content is enhancing the way multimedia is consumed via its B2B2C offering. The integration between Fon’s unique WiFi technology and Agile Content’s TV service offering brings scalable and costefficient video solutions for its customers, while also boosting in-house and 5G content delivery innovation. For greater efficiency and scalability, operators are increasingly looking to externalize their TV business.

Together with Fon and Edgeware – the content processing and video delivery specialist it recently acquired – Agile Content is allowing operators to capitalize on this trend by removing the risks associated with running services internally. Equipped with WiFi intelligence through Fon’s technology, new and existing Agile Content customers can improve usability and gain valuable customer insights through data – ensuring higher quality video services that meet the challenges of today’s TV delivery environment.

“The agreement with Fon is designed to deliver value to our customers and their end users, as well as drive growth from a business perspective as we further consolidate our position in the European TV market and telco industry,” said Hernán Scapusio, CEO of Agile Content. “The collaboration between the three companies – Agile Content, Edgeware and now, Fon – advances our B2B2C service strategy. Together, we’re wellpositioned to enhance the experience of multimedia consumption in the home technology space, support leading operators, and serve more than 50 million households worldwide with competitive TV services.”

With this acquisition, Agile Content also boosts its monetization unit with the hire of Alex Puregger, the former CEO of Fon. Joining as the group’s new Chief Monetization Officer, Alex’s appointment will further enhance the B2B2C division, which is based on revenuesharing agreements with large operators. Alex said: “I am excited to encourage the development of Agile Content’s B2B2C offering and integrate Fon within the larger Agile Content family. It gives Fon an environment to grow and collaborate with the best-of-thebest in order to help operators across the video landscape address customers’ evolving needs.”
