Live sports programming always has and always will capture audiences all over the world. This was true last year more than ever while attendance at venues was limited and now throughout this year’s summer of global sport which includes the Euros and the Olympics.
Audiences are also now migrating – or have already fully migrated – to digital-first products to consume their sports content. And because streamed events are more popular than ever, there is huge opportunity for many players in the sports landscape.
This is true whether it’s traditional broadcasters using their own services to deliver over the top or the big streaming services like Prime Video investing in international tennis and NFL programming. You can also see sports-only streaming services like DAZN continuing to grow or sports organisations themselves pushing their own dedicated platforms or making use of public platforms like Twitch.
Sports OTT offers an opportunity for so many in the fight for audience share. But doing this in the right way is paramount, with eager sports fans relying on streaming providers to truly deliver an exceptional service and experience.
This is why we’re thrilled to say that we’ve become members of the Global Sports Innovation Center (GSIC), an international non-profit association that supports innovation in sport. The delivery of live programming is an incredibly valuable part of the broadcast and content distribution ecosystem. It’s for this reason that we felt it was an important group to be a part of, so we can work together to promote innovation in the industry.
Joining GSIC is a great opportunity for us to partner not only with the association itself, but the other forward-thinking businesses and institutions which make up its membership. This partnership will see us spearhead the digital transformation of the sports entertainment industry, including the provision of state-of-the-art media solutions for video asset monetization, fan engagement and the development of smart venues.
Part of our GSIC membership will see us build out our partner program and make Agile Content’s OTT-as-a-service technology for premium and ad-funded video entertainment available to other members of the organsiation. Our technology is the perfect solution for many other members of GSIC as they work to meet the continuing trend for OTT sports and demand from audiences. Agile Content’s end-to-end solution includes content packaging and worldwide delivery across all networks and devices, simplifying the process of monetizing video assets; precisely what the digital landscape of sports needs.
Asking Iris Cordoba, General Manager of GSIC about our joining, she said: “The sports entertainment industry is at a crucial turning point, with OTT solutions leading the way. That’s why it’s great to have Agile Content as a member. The company’s mission to transform how sports content is delivered to today’s connected audiences is a great fit for the GSIC community.”
We’re really looking forward to working with GSIC to drive innovation in the sports industry and hope to share details about what they are very soon.
